It is a turmeric-infused drink that supports your body’s defense against diseases. Golden milk  can be a tasty addition to your diet, so that you can be the best you all year long!

Turmeric is a plant that has been used for nearly 4,000 years for both medicinal and culinary purposes. It boasts a bold yellow color and a peppery, warm, slightly bitter flavor. It has also been used as clothing dye and in religious ceremonies in Southeast Asia. Medicinally, turmeric is an all-purpose herb! It is used to treat arthritis, skin cancer, chicken pox, woods, UTIs, liver problems, loss of appetite, inflammation, viruses and bowel diseases. Trust us: it’s worth the time of day.

This golden milk recipe complements turmeric’s distinct, root-like taste with creamy nut milk, sweet honey and aromatic cinnamon. The black pepper is in the mix, because its compound piperine helps to increase the bioavailability of the compound curcumin, which is inherent in turmeric, by a whopping 2000 percent!

Enjoy this drink for a mid-day pick-me-up or as a treat before bed.

Golden Milk

Serves 1-2


  • 2 cups homemade nondairy nut milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (see note below)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Dash of black pepper


Mix all of the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook at a simmer for about 5 minutes or until all the ingredients have come together and reveal a smooth consistency and golden-yellow color.

ELLICE’S TIP: According to Ayurveda, honey should never be cooked because it becomes toxic, so add it after cooking when the mixture has cooled or just stick to maple syrup.
