Though an ice-cold soda is very refreshing, it is full of sugar and calories. Giving up soda can be quite a challenge, but it is easier if you can replace it with a variety of healthy drinks. Water is the healthiest drink out there, but sometimes water alone just won’t cut it. For those times when water isn’t enough, check out these four great healthy drink alternatives to soda.
Coconut Water
Coconut water, like Vita Coco, is an all around healthy drink option that is full of calcium, potassium and many other vital nutrients. In terms of purity, it is second only to water. Coconut water hydrates the body, helps to replenish electrolytes and can also help break up kidney stones and relieve urinary problems. It’s also antibacterial and can control vomiting, making it an ideal drink, especially when you’re feeling under the weather with a stomach bug.
Tea
Teas are another great replacement drink for soda. When no cream or sugar is added, tea contains no calories, but still provides many nutrients. Tea has many health benefits: Green tea, for example, may help prevent heart disease. Tazo teas come in many different flavors like black, green, herbal and chai.
Almond Milk
Almond milk, like Almond Breeze, is another healthy drink alternative. Almond milk is very nutrient rich, containing high amounts of vitamin E and calcium. It is also low in calories, making it very friendly for dieters. Because it is made of almonds, it is a great alternative to cow’s milk for those who have dairy sensitivities. Another benefit of almond milk is that it contains lower levels of potassium and phosphorus which makes it a better choice for those who have kidney disease.
Fruit and Vegetable Juices
Fruit and vegetable juices can be a great alternative to soda, but be sure that they are 100 percent juice and that there is no added sugar. One great benefit of drinking fruit and vegetable juices is that they can provide a full serving of the daily fruit and vegetable requirements. Juice can contain a lot of calories, however, so if you’re looking to cut out calories, don’t drink more than four ounces a day.
Cutting out soda can be a challenge, but by replacing it with coconut water, tea, almond milk or juice, you can make the process easier and more enjoyable. To see more health drinks click here.
